Planned Giving

Giving to North Country Children’s Clinic through your Will is one of the simplest ways to make a gift of any size that can help you avoid excessive taxes on your estate and will benefit area children for generations to come. Making a bequest is straightforward and easily executed with your attorney.

You may name the Children’s Clinic as a beneficiary in your Will in a number of simple ways:

If your gift is to be made in cash, you may designate a dollar amount for the Clinic or you can specify a percentage of your estate. The latter choice provides a guard against inflation and unforeseen shrinkage while assuring that your heirs receive their proportionate share of the estate.

You may name the Children’s Clinic as the remainder beneficiary of your estate. The Clinic would receive the amount left over after specific sums have been paid to individual beneficiaries.

You may make a contingent bequest by naming the Children’s Clinic to receive certain assets only if a named individual, such as a spouse, doesn’t survive you. This is a way of putting a loved one’s security first.

You can specify a non-cash gift of securities, real estate or tangible personal property, such as art or antiques.

The following language options may be helpful to your attorney:
I give and bequeath to North Country Children’s Clinic, Watertown, NY (Federal Tax I.D. #16-1030802) _______ dollars [or _________ securities].

Gifts of unrestricted funds are the most helpful to the Children’s Clinic, but you may designate your gift for a specific purpose if you wish. To do so, the following language may be helpful:

[, to be used for the following: _______________________________. If the Board of Directors of North Country Children’s Clinic determine at any time that such purpose is obsolete, inappropriate or impracticable, the Board may use the income or principal of this bequest for whatever purpose they deem advisable].

We would appreciate the opportunity to thank you personally for including the Children’s Clinic in your Will. Please contact Jennifer Hodge, Director of Development, with any questions and/or to let us know of your plans.

Thank you!
